Yoga is a beneficial exercise because the movements increase strength, flexibility, and balance. During yoga, the relaxation of skeletal muscles allows blood to travel more easily to the digestive, reproduction, glandular, and immune system. This promotes better flow of blood and nutrients throughout the body which increases your body’s ability to heal itself.
For men who believe yoga is not manly enough it is really a fancy name for stretching. Male pro athletes of all shapes and sizes incorporate yoga into their training regimen including UFC fighters. You will find many poses are very challenging and take weeks to conquer.
I typically perform from 5 to 30 minutes of yoga in the mornings to wake my body up, after weight lifting to stretch my muscles, and sometimes as a warm up.
Here is a video of a great 5 minute morning routine for beginners to jump start your day or before other exercise.
