Sitting at a desk all day does not help you achieve your fitness goals. Sitting for extended periods causes poor circulation throughout your lower body and can produce back pain, other bodily pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches from starring at the computer screen, and other physical problems. Exercising or performing stretches periodically while in the office promotes increased circulation to all parts of your body and prevents boredom. If nothing else, get up every half hour or so and walk around or in place for at least 30 seconds. If your boss is out sick, you have some free time at lunch, or you have completed your project get a quick exercise routine in at the office.
