1. Walk – Walking for 15 to 20 minutes will easily burn 100 calories. If you are really busy, remember this is total extra walking time per day to burn an extra 100 calories. For example, you could walk 3 times a day at 6 minutes each for a day’s total of 18 minutes. Increase your walking time by parking farther away from work/shopping, walking during your golf games – no cart, walking around your neighborhood/local park, or taking a walk instead of sitting while waiting for appointments/car service/etc.
2. Gardening & Yard Work – Shovel, push the lawn mower, and rake to provide an excellent workout. Work for 15 to 25 minutes and you have burned 100.
3. Clean & Vacuum – Push the vacuum, dust, or clean around the house for 20 to 25 minutes.
4. Wash the Car – Save $8 at the local car wash and do it yourself. Clean your car for 20 to 25 minutes to achieve your 100 calorie goal.
5. Dance – An easy 20 minutes of dancing burns 100.
6. Laugh, Smile, & Frown – A good laugh will burn 3 calories. Smiling and frowning burns calories because you exercise your facial muscles. Laugh 34 times a day and you have your 100.
7. Fidget – Have you ever noticed people who fidget all the time are generally skinnier than those who don’t? One recent British study found people with the same daily lifestyles who fidget burn up to 350 more calories a day than the same person who sat still! (Side note – for office workers fidgeting greatly improves blood circulation in the limbs)
8. Bicycle – Ride outside for about 4 to 5 miles.
9. Stair climbing & Stepping – You can use stairs, the few steps on your front porch, or step box for at least 10 minutes to burn 100.
10. Jump Rope – 10 Minutes will provide you with a nice sweat and you are 100 calories lighter.
